  • Responsible for internal and outsourced portfolio, programme and technology teams across the UK and Ireland supporting staff and customers across 5 key lines of business.
  • Led the development and implementation of a technology road map covering both the internal supply chain and external customer demand chain, making recommendations on new and disruptive technologies and ways of working.
  • Planned and led a significant network and application performance improvement programme, resulting in dramatically improved network speeds, more efficient SAP processes, increased computing capacity and a much smoother month-end close process.
  • Implemented Nutanix Hyper Converged infrastructure. This architecture condensed 294 virtual and 9 physical servers onto a single integrated platform, thereby making it simple to add more memory / CPU, storage or bandwidth (one node at a time) whilst running all applications at high performance.
  • Implemented fully managed Backup as a Service (BaaS) and Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) solutions utilising a private cloud, reducing backup and restore times more than tenfold.
  • Instrumental in the design and implementation of strict ITIL change control processes across all IT systems. The result has been fewer system outages, less application downtime, a better understanding of any changes being introduced and a more stable technology environment.

DS Smith Plc (International Paper, Packaging and Recycling Business)

  • Appointed as Interim IT Director for the Recycling business to develop a cohesive IT strategy.
  • Carried out a high-level review of business processes and third-party service provision.
  • Put in place measures to review customer satisfaction with IT and ensure improved resolution.
  • Led compliance activities with corporate and external audit, resulting in no significant findings.

QVC (Satellite and broadcast televised network specialising in home shopping)

  • Appointed as Head of European Infrastructure Operations on an interim basis while the organisation underwent a global restructuring process.
  • Responsible for direction and oversight of all live production systems for Europe on a 24x7 basis.
  • Planned and managed computer operations, production support, network operations, systems and database administration.

Took a sabbatical from ColArt to travel around Europe and North America from Aug 2012 to Dec 2013.

  • Responsible for all aspects of IT services globally, controlling teams of professionals across all business units within the European, Asia Pacific and North American regions.
  • Reported directly to the Board of Directors, and their private-equity owners Lindengruppen AB, advising on business impact of technology and IT.
  • Developed a strategic roadmap and governance structure for IT systems, security, architecture and organisation resulting in a focused investment plan and major cost savings.
  • Transformed disparate and autonomous IT operations into a fully integrated, centrally managed ITIL service and support model covering all entities. This included deployment of a global MPLS network, transfer of major manufacturing operations from the UK to France and consolidation of European warehousing operations into centralised facilities.
  • Planned and co-ordinated the build-out and provisioning of all technology-related services for the new group Head Office, whilst ensuring the old facility was fully decommissioned.
  • Led evaluation and selection process for global ERP system, planning all aspects from technology footprint through to business process design and individual country roll-out schedules.

ACCO BRANDS INTERNATIONAL

  • Established a pan-European shared services centre, streamlining and centralising IT services, resulting in a 20% reduction in operating costs.
  • Consolidated 7 legacy systems across Europe onto a single ERP platform in preparation for a Global Oracle roll-out. This allowed the businesses to realise the benefits of legal entity consolidation, central financial control, shared inventory and centralised distribution within European markets.
  • Rationalised enterprise-wide IT services to reduce cost, business risk and increase service levels.
  • Managed the integration of multiple data centres and helpdesk facilities into a single service facility.
  • Led the consolidation of networks to a Verizon-managed service saving over $350k per annum. Identified and delivered technology cost-saving initiatives providing a further $1m in annual savings.

  • Transformed all European IT operations into an Enterprise IT Shared Services model, ensuring the successful deployment of enterprise technologies, processes, and applications.
  • Consolidated multiple data centres and help desks, including redeployment of support staff, resulting in an enterprise-wide capability to support business growth.
  • Led systems integration activities for several newly acquired businesses in Europe, as well as the divestment of a number of non-core operations to Alliance Boots.
  • Projects included the rollout of a managed desktop environment and a European IT Service Centre.
