Fortis Bank Italy was active in the following businesses: Commercial Banking (mainly mid caps with cross-border activities), Large Corporate, Investment Banking (Global Export & Project Finance, Acquisition & Leveraged Finance), Global Markets (Investment Products, Treasury Products, Financial Institutions, Global securities Financing), Specialized Finance (Global Trade Services, Cash Management, Leasing, Factoring, Energy), Private Banking and Asset Management. With the integration of Generale Bank in Fortis group, I launched the Commercial Banking business in Italy from scratch. Commercial Banking (focused on midcaps business) used to be the main business and the backbone of Fortis in Italy with, after less than 5 years, 6 business centers (Milano, Torino, Brescia, Padova, Bologna and Firenze), 35 corporate officers and more than 2.000 customers. At the same time, as General Manager I had to structure all the support functions of the branch (operations, risk management, compliance, human resources, communication, ...) that were only embryonic and that needed to be developed and structured to face the exponential growth of Fortis Italy. I also coordinated the launching of new activities (Energy, Global markets, ...) and the incorporation of two new companies (Fortis Lease Italia SpA and Fortis Commercial Finance (factoring) SpA). |
