Chief Data Officer

• Define a Data Strategy, elaborate a plan for execution and implement a first Minimum viable Product MvP.
• Design, promote and roll-out Data Governance and Data Quality frameworks (two fundamental pillars of the Data Strategy),
• including policies, procedures, metrics, specific roles that ensure that data is treated consistently, and rules for how data management functions and other business functions treat data.

Deputy CDO / Data Governance & Quality Officer

The role of the CDO Office was initially defined as a response to regulatory requirements with regards to data and data management. This role is increasingly involved in the offensive use of data. Hence the focus of the CDO Office is to implement the Data Management Strategy with the purpose to realize business value via governed and compliant data.

The priorities of the CDO Office are mainly driven by two global policies:

• Data Management Process Control Standard (DM PCS)
• Global Data Protection Policy (GDPP), with focus on record retention & deletion and data accuracy for personal data

These two policies have five main attention areas for which expertise is present in the CDO Office: Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Definitions & Metadata, Data Lineage and Data Privacy

Key responsibilities

• Implement the global policies (tested through an annual key control testing cycle, e.g., BCBS239, KYC). A risk-based approach is taken for the implementation to put most governance controls on the data flows that run the highest risk
• Prepare the roadmap of the CDO office, translate it into QBR, then epics and features
• Align with CDO Office Group organization
• Provide advises on data quality requirements definition, control implementation and monitoring / data usage principles
• Support Finance & Credit Risk Tribes data quality projects (Loan Tape, Risk-Weighted Assets …)
• Coordinate data quality board / Operational Data Management board / Waiver board
• Keep overview of pillars / review documents / provide guidance on bigger picture
• Prepare Data Council Committees (consolidate and prepare documentation, draft the minutes …)

Cross-Border Advisory Data Road Manager

Responsible for end-to-end data flows definition and implementation for a digitization program (straight-forward banking offer and needs-based service models, rationalisation and harmonization of products and processes, business banking digital commercial and provisioning model)

• Gather cross-border (Belgium, Netherlands) data requirements and define an implementation roadmap for Business Lending, Payments, Consumer Lending, Digital Outreach and Mortgages (~20 customer digital journeys)
• Set up epics’ backlog, prioritize and follow up upcoming sprints on quarterly basis
• Perform an impact analysis on Unite Data Lake (end-to-end data chain) and carry out a budget estimate
• Coordinate, follow-up and align on impediments and priorities with business road managers
• Ensure the communication towards the Data Management Senior Leadership Team

Responsible for Data Management, Analytics and Digitization capabilities

Key Responsibilities

• Create timelines and roadmaps for the deployment of all technological services and knowledge to digitize processes and to oversee the collection, storage, structuring and analysis of all important data in line with Industry 4.0 ambition
• Define and set up a digital and data management practice: provide the best tools and ways of working to increase data team productivity and ability to focus on value-added tasks
• Recruit and organise onboarding for the core data and digital team
• Design and roll-out data capabilities processes for data governance, data quality and data traceability
• Manage the data team and lead regular follow-up, reviews, and meetings to discuss success or areas for concern
• Lead teams in building end-to-end data flows, provisioning reusable data sets, implementation algorithms and dashboards
• Coordinate data exploration and support business initiatives for creating value from data assets
• Create accessible resources for explaining data to non-expert users
• Manage the IT and the technology budget
• Develop and manage the ecosystem of partners required to best acquire and leverage on data

Key Achievements

• Built a central Big Data Platform and edge computing capabilities for manufacturing (7 plants).
• Built a single Analytical Platform enabling production lines to run their own analytics (near real-time production monitoring on plant, monitoring of the industrial performance).
• Created a digital & data team (1 Software Lead, 1 Feature Engineer, 8 DevOps / Data engineers, 2 Data Scientists, 1 Data Architect, 2 Data Analysts, 1 Business Intelligence Lead, 1 Project Manager)
• Setting up Data & Digital Factory with an agile way of working.
• Mapped worldwide key Information Systems for Finance, HR, Manufacturing, key data categories, and key roles. Implemented data models based on Data-Vault best practices.
• Designed and implemented end-to-end solution for connected-car data gathering and structuring in the Data Lake. Including dashboards to monitor and analyse the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) performance under strict metrological conditions (+/- 50°C)
• Implemented and rolled-out advanced analytics solutions across the R&D/R&I Plants (Sigmatech Lyon, Alphatech Compiègne, Deltatech Brussels, Greer United States), e.g., safety equipment detection, detection of gluing defects on the car rear hatch, monitoring and finetuning of paint line technical parameters, bumper quality monitoring, grinder functioning monitoring to avoid blocking issues
• Implemented and rolled out more than 50 digital or analytical solutions, e.g., Intra Group Transfer Pricing Platform, Group General Expenses Management System, Central and Local HR reports and dashboards based on ~30 SAP payroll Systems, Automotive Project Portfolio Management System.
