I provided strategic guidance for a range of activities including corporate restructuring, turnaround, product/service launch, and M&A activity on a global scale. I conducted assignments in Belgium, France, Germany, Poland, Brazil, and Taiwan as follows:

  • Restructuring Project, French Family Owned Medium Sized Company, Paris (2015 – 2019): Overhauled core business functions and rolled out highly effective IT infrastructure to drive efficiency and productivity. Established operating frameworks encompassing finance, HR, purchasing to provide centralised decision-making for 45 subsidiaries.
  • CFO, Build up of whole Finance & Operations Teams, organisation and processes in German retail business (from 1up to 48 shops today), Stuttgart (2014 – 2019): controlling, cash management, taxes, legal, purchase and logistics, IT, HR
  • Restructuring Project, French IT subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, Paris (2012 – 2014): Turned around business from -€35M to +€3M EBIT within 18 months. Rationalised headcount from 1200 to 300. Achieved revenues in excess of €80M and developed a comprehensive operating model.
  • CFO, Financial Performance Evaluation Project, Visteon, Berlin (2012): Implemented KPI’s and reporting processes while preparing budgets and conducting business reviews to identify areas for improvement. Developed remedial actions including processes designed to stimulate growth productivity.
  • Director, Securing P&L Initiatives, Grande Armée Conseil, Paris (2011 – 2012): Conceptualised a suite of early warning indicators as part of the overall risk management strategy for B2B services.
  • Business Coach/Associate Partner, Visconti, Paris (2010 – 2011): Mentored and coached leaders.
  • Startup/Early Stage Investment, France/Netherlands (2009): Made four investments and provided strategic advice.
  • Group CFO, Establishment of Finance and Operations Teams, Effortel, Brussels (2008): Defined an operating model for long-term viability and delivered a five-year group business plan for 10 countries. - Full scope local and group finance function

- Strategy: setup of the company's business model and strategic planning process

- Commercial/Purchasing involvement : sparring partner to CEO/sales management in margin and contract negotiations with customers and suppliers

- Business support functions: collection of receivables, commissioning of distributors (300 partners) and implementation of auditing activities in the retail business (70 shops)

- HR function : responsibility for Workers' Council, and for recruitment/training/payroll

- IT and facilities management function: responsibility for SAP implementation projects

* Execution of build up and diversification strategy through acquisitions:
- Grew company to €215M via six acquisitions totalling €50M+; expanded value chain, adding three business units, including two retail companies and a hardware wholesaler

- Completed high-priority integration of newly acquired entities within three months, merging accounting and tax functions, processes, and technical systems

* Turned around newly acquired company losing €8M to breakeven in the retail business - Designed and implemented 50-point recovery plan to reverse losses for 100 shops to breakeven within 12 months

* Managing Director for one business unit (in 2001 and 2002):
- Call centre managing 300,000 OLA subscribers for the account of Orange - Ebitda responsibility and management of 130 employees
